Desmond gets home

Desmond's operation went well, my vet felt it was very successful and was happy with the stabilisation achieved with the plate. It was done yesterday afternoon and he had to spend another night hospitalised but we were really pleased to get him home today.

So far he seems fairly comfortable although he is not sure where to put his new bulky leg, it obviously feels very strange. He couldn't wait to get out in our garden to cock his leg, it seems he had been a bit reluctant to go at the vets this morning and so was absolutely bursting by the time he got home. He managed to get into position quite well but, unfortunately, held his bad leg a bit further back than normal and managed to pee all over it and even inside the plastic drip bag which acts as a dressing protector! I removed the bag straight away, before it had time to affect the bandage, and gave it a good wash. Think I may have to help him with his positioning next time.

Looking rather sorry for himself but it's actually just his camera face!

Banged up.........and not amused.

So relieved it went well, Sue. My fingers are still crossed that he doesn't fret when in the crate, all goes smoothly with a pain free convalescence and that we see him back in the ring as good as new in the not too distant future.

Do get well soon Desmond, we wish you better and keep up the sympathy / camers face. It seems to be working.
