I'm not sure where gulls spend their nights but it looks like these are getting ready for bed.

I've been busy and am playing catch up again. For some reason I didn't take many photos when the visitors were here last week but what I did take will have to wait for a few more days because I am heading off for a weekend of back to back dog shows.
Edinburgh is the venue on Saturday and the weather forecast is not good. I may take some convincing that dog-showing is a fun hobby when I am huddled in a wind-buffeted marquee with the rain lashing down.
There will be mud. There's always mud.

What a lovely shot! Beautiful colors and it does look so peaceful! And the birds seem busy!
Enjoy the weekend!

I couldn't go to bed when it was so light. Maybe staring at the beautiful color would lull me to sleep.
Nice colours in this picture. I wish you the best at the dog shows with not to much rain on your head.
That's a beautiful evening. Gulls seem to bob about on the water all night - at least they do in marinas.
Good luck with the dog shows and I love your new header - Jana is hunkering down to be one of the papillons!

Love the sky and the seagulls. Such a lovely capture!
Fabulous photo!
I like that purple shades!!
Try to have fun this weekend! I know what you mean about being busy with visitors.
BTW - This shot is a beautiful reminder to go down to our beach in the evening one of these times so I capture some of that "other" excellent light. :)
what a fab sunset!
Lovely colour in the sky made even nicer by the reflection.
Lovely shot of the sleeepy gulls. Good luck at the weekend in Embra. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the weather.
Beautiful colour. All the best with the dog shows
These gulls don't seem to mind the mud - but then they're surrounded by lovely colours.
Well I hope you win some blues to make up for the icky weather!
thats a gorgeous shot!
best wishes for the dog show!!
cheers!
Simply beautifully captured shot....lovely!
Blue skies in Edinburgh at the moment, but also buffeting winds. Hope by the time you read this that you'll have had a reasonably dry weekend.
My children's former violin and viola teacher goes to a lot a dog shows - I think she does obedience judging.
Love your shot of gulls getting ready for bed!
Gorgeous photo!
I hope you survived the weather!
Great shot of the gulls. How nice to have beaches to visit. So the dog show is outside? I hope you take lots of photos...I've never been to a show and would love a tour. Good luck.
We will be eagerly awaiting your return to hear all about it...mud and all!! :-)

ps. beautiful sky shot as usual...what gorgeous colours!
that's so purple (or lavender?), thanks for sharing
What a gorgeous sunset. You really have to love dogs to put up with rain, wind and MUD!
Dog-showing is plenty of fun - for us to watch, from here. Ok, somebody has to do it...so I'll try to be encouraging and tell you that you'll forget all about the huddling in the rain when you win!
Beautiful skies!!! Thanks for stopping by during your hectic last few days. I hope the dog shows went well for you.
The weather must play havoc with dog shows. I never thought of that, really. Best of luck!
Thanks for your nice comment on our anniversary post! Yes, that was Drumnadrochit - and that little robot was the closest we got to Nessie (despite taking the obligatory lake tour and straining our eyes for 2 hours...yes, sad deluded tourists!!) - but it was still a thrill! We just LOVED our trip to Scotland - we visited twice and loved every minute of our time there. After NZ, we think it is the most beautiful country in the world. We went white-water rafting in Aberfeldy, did the loop around Loch Ness, the ferry ride on the Firth of Forth, visited the distillery at Glenturret and of course, sight-seeing all around Edingburgh. Would have really liked to see more but just didn't have the time! And oooooh! Haggis! I LOOOOOOVE haggis!

I don't know where they go to bed either, but it's nice of them to look so scenic while they're getting ready for it. Beautiful shot!
Janice.
That's beautiful!
