A bit further away from here, on the edge of Loch Ness, is Castle Urquhart. Another in ruins but equally interesting. The best view of it is from the actual loch.....but since I haven't got one from that angle, you'll have to make do with this one!

The photo of Duffus castle looks quite sinister in mono.
Cool pictures! You have such history there!
Great stuff! I was such a castle nut in my twenties but all pictures were slides that no longer exist.
Lovely stuff.
I've got to ask - and I hope it isn't in any way insulting - how do you pronounce "Duffus"? Is it as it looks? I don't know if it is similar in Scotland, but in America a "Doofus" is a clod, a bumbler, a non-intelligent person, and so that's why I'm asking.
Castles .. and shadows .. wonderful shots ..
Great shot of the castle ruins.
Suldog - it is pronounced as it looks. Duff us.
Mind you, the way a large part of it ended up collapsing due to the inadequate foundations makes me think that perhaps 'Doofus' would have been more appropriate!
Castles galore this week! Lovely photos....for once we didn't make it to Duffus this Easter to roll eggs.
Both are lovely and they look great in mono.
Boy indeed it has possibilities. If I had something like that nearby I'd practically live at this site. Ever consider sunrise or sunset shots?
Those are such cool shots, I would love to see something like that.

Beautiful castles! Wish I lived in a castle. ;) Mom says she would settle for visiting one someday.

Great Shots!
Thank you for the birthday wishes my Gennasus friends!

The shadows, especially in the 1st shot, are fantastic. Thanks for sharing castles. That is one thing we don't get much of in California.
I just saw in your bio that you have a "budgie". What's that?
Cool pictures, Mommy is obsessed with old ruins, she loves them.
Nice blog!
