Total wipeout

Yes, I'm still in the land of the living, although recent events almost had me doubting that fact.

Whilst I was having computer hassles, it seems my human system was also not performing to its full capacity. Things came to a head after two weeks of vomiting and diarrhoea, resulting in me being admitted to hospital and put onto a drip. For someone who has always taken good health for granted, it came as quite a shock to find myself in such a poor state. I got home after a week and was glad of the chance to catch up on some sleep - how does anyone ever get any rest in hospital?!

I'm working at getting my energy level back up, I hate feeling so feeble, dog walks are gradually getting longer and hopefully it won't be too long before I'm back to normal. I am very lucky to have kind friends and family who helped out by looking after some of the dogs for me, thanks to all of you.

Weight loss was quite dramatic, I lost 10kg (22lbs) in 10 days but, for those of you interested in dropping a couple of dress sizes, I wouldn't recommend this method!

Poor you! Take it as easy as you can and make haste slowly. I was wondering where you'd got to - nevder imagined it might be the hospital :-/

Oh no, that sounds awful. I am sorry to hear you have been so poorly.

I hope you are feeling a lot better now and life gets back to normal very soon too.

I am so glad you are home and okay. I had wondered where you went. Losing 22 pounds sounds devine, but I'd rather not go to the hospital to do it! Looking forward to you mending and taking new photos.

Wow sorry you've been sick! Any idea what it was? Just a virus or something? Take care of yourself and take it easy.

I've been there with the weight loss. I'd been having gastrointestinal problems for a looooooong time and finally found out I had low thyroid and am allergic to dairy, so when I got on the thyroid medicine and stopped eating dairy I lost twenty pounds in three weeks. Much nicer way to lose it than what you went through. I'm glad you finally went to the hospital. It's scary dealing with dehydration from prolonged vomiting/diarrhea!

Feel better soon. We're glad to have you back.

That sounds horrible! I'm so happy to know you are feeling better. Great to "hear" your voice again, and I'm sure Jana and the Paps (sounds like a MoTown group, doesn't it?) are excited to have you back and healthy.

Hi Sue, welcome back, did hear you'd been poorly, try biking instead of walking, there's a few old codgers on bikes that I know!!!

I am so glad you are well and back with the dogs. Do things slowly THEN HURRY get back to your blog as I am like an addict without my drugs missing it lol. Feel better soon. Oh as an old seasoned hospital stayer you never get any sleep and when you do they just wake you up again and as for their food no wonder you lost weight. From my last hospital stay I put on what you lost as I just slept and ate choc so watch out. lol That said the dogs will have you out and about soon enough. Keep in touch.

Kindest regards Jo

Wondered what was going on. So sorry you had to endure all that. =(

I've often thought the same thing - too noisy and too many interruptions in a hospital to get any rest.

Glad you are on the mend and hope you can gain some of that weight back so you can have some energy again. Do take care.

I wondered if you were ill. Glad you're back home after hospital. If you were in Dr Grey's I'm not surprised you didn't get much sleep. My Dad is much happier now that he's in the Fleming in Aberlour, in a private room. The thing that kept him awake in Grey's was other patients talking on their mobiles late into the evening.

As you say, your weight loss method isn't to be recommended. I hope you're managing to enjoy food again and build up your strength. Surely it can't be too long until spring now, but I heard (via Aberlour!) that there was a lot of snow in the Hopeman area this week.

We did wonder where you had got to!
Hopefully you are on the way to recovery now.
Pretty drastic weight loss and of course hospital leaves you exhausted!
Take care
